Square Watermelons

Did you know they have square watermelons in Japan?  I didn’t until someone emailed this to me.  Check it out. They do this to make it easier to store and ship them.  It has absolutely nothing to do with the way a watermelon will try to roll out of the refrigerator and leap at you.  What, am I the only one that has happened to? If you’re like me about now you’re wondering how they do that.

A Cowboy named Fred

A drunken cowboy lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh Amarillo theater. When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the cowboy, “Sorry, sir, but you’re only allowed one seat.” The cowboy groaned but didn’t budge. The usher became more impatient: “Sir, if you don’t get up from there I’m going to have to call the manager.” Once again, the cowboy just groaned. The usher marched briskly back up the aisle and in a moment he […]

Modern Furniture

This is another one of those emails that have been forwarded a gazillion times before I get it, so who knows where it originally came from.    According to the email, it’s Japanese furniture.   Can you imagine being invited to a party then told you have to help set up?  And it looks like that?  All right, let’s give it a try.     They look light enough.  No one seems to be getting hurt.  Heck, I think even […]

This one is from an email titled tromp d’oeil & creative packaging.  It had too many pictures for this poor blog to handle, so I broke it in two.

When Grandma Goes To Court

Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they aren’t prepared for the answer. In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand.  He approached her and asked, ‘Mrs. Jones, do you know me?’ She responded, ‘Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams.  I’ve known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you’ve been a big disappointment to me.  You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate […]

Two Patients Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement. The first patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has time booked for surgery the following week. The second patient sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn’t reviewed for another week and finally […]

Made in China

There was a time, a few centuries ago,  when Made In China was an assurance of quality.  When I was a kid Made In Taiwan was a guarantee whatever it was would break.  Now Made in China has become a new, deadly form of Made in Taiwan. Remember the pet food that killed cats and dogs?  Made in China. Now there is a new recall, one for toys. http://www.emergencyemail.org/newsemergency/anmviewer.asp?a=232&z=7 http://www.emergencyemail.org/newsemergency/anmviewer.asp?a=228&z=1 Make that two for toys. I’ve got a new spool […]
