The End of Sven

As you all know I’ve been working on the Sweat with Sven challenge.  I chose A Miss for Mark, the third book in the Parthenon Club, as my Work in Progress for that event.  When it started I’d already been at it for over a month. Let’s look at a few statistics Words written before the challenge began:  16,548 I was thinking it was 13,000 until a few minutes ago when I realized I’d pulled the number from the wrong […]

Sven Today

If I can do 8,366 words in three days, including two days that are not good for schedules, then I will have written 70,000 words during the Sven challenge.  I won’t have finished the book, but I’m close.  Actually, if I could count words that were written for FanLit Forever entries and Suzie blogs I’d be well over 70,000.  But alas, I can not. I wrote 10,508 words since last Sunday.  I was shooting for 20,000.  Oh well.  I’m quite […]

Research

Me:  I need the name of a little pocket pistol that a white supremacist in the woods would have in his pocket.Mr. Al:  a derringer? Me:  No that’s too Wild West.  I’m not writing an historical here. Mr. Al:  A derringer is Wild West? Me:  It’s too classy for this guy.  I need something modern.  And small. Mr. Al:  Right.  A “pocket pistol.” Me:  *arching an eyebrow enquiringly.* Mr. Al:  I’m combing my hair here.  See?  See me combing my […]

A Sigh for Sven

The Sven challenge ends January 15th.  That means I have just over one week in which to write about 20,000 words.  I got some writing done this week, but none of it was in A Miss for Mark, so it doesn’t count for my Sven thing. I doubt I will meet my original goal.  I won’t finish the book in a week, nor have done an average of 1,000 words a day.  But I can come close.  I’m going for […]

Thursday Thirteen #10: Reasons My Husband Is Glad I Write Romance

1 – I find him inspirational. 2 – He’s developed a taste for the office floor. 3 – He loves to help me do research. 4 – He likes hanging out in the library while helping me do research, even if I’m just looking at fashion plates from 1810 instead of battle fields. 5 – He thought the research involving the closet was interesting. Hey, I needed to know how things… um… lined up. 6 – He’s hoping someday one […]

Sven? Sven who?

I haven’t written a word in A Miss For Mark since last week.  I refuse to feel guilty about it. Alice Who is ON VACATION

Sven Ouch

1,376 words.  It was a rough week and promises to get rougher.  Too many distractions.   I’ve been AWOL from my muse long enough to start feeling like I need to get back to work, but I know I won’t get much done in the next few days.  Maybe I can make up for it in the week after. Alice

Sven the Train Wreck

2070 words, all on Monday.  As soon as I realized I wasn’t going to be able to finishe the book in two weeks I totally lost it. Maybe it’ll be better next week.  How much longer did you say we had? Alice

Sven Again

A good week!  9,336 words.  Still not up to full speed, but it’s a lot closer.  Only problem is I have to do 10,000 each week for the next two to make my goal.  I’m not sure if I call pull it off or not.  Worth a try. Alice

Sven for the End of November

5,356 words.  Not as good as I’d planned on, but better than before.  I’m going to have to really haul it if I’m going to finish this puppy by Christmas.  Boy, I hate to go into January, but I suppose it’s possible. Alice

The Sven Thing

I was kind of counting on this week to make up for last week.  At 1,000 words a day for 7 days I need to do 7,000 words a  week just to stay even.  I did 5,734.  It would have been worse but I managed to bust through at the end of the week and did a couple thousand on Friday.  Whoohoo!  Still, with every single week running behind, I don’t think I’m going to have this puppy done by […]

Eeek! 70-Days has started already?

This is going to be harder than I thought.  I did a little over a thousand words yesterday, but I’ve only done a hundred so far today.  I’ll have to make up for it tomorrow. Alice

"Can I Write?"

Writing a short story is like running a mile.  Writing a novel is like a ten mile hike.  Writing a novel others would like to read is like dancing the same ten miles with a genuine smile the entire time.
