She Who Remembers by Linda Lay Shuler p. 430

Kwani had lived always among mountain and in canyons cradled by sheltering cliffs. Here she felt totally exposed. Vulnerable. There was nothing to lean the eyes against, no place to hide. Physical Therapy

Aren’t you glad I didn’t include any pictures? It all started well over a year ago when I pulled a groin muscle. At the time I considered it nothing special because I’d pulled the muscles on one or both sides many times while getting on my bicycle or standing up and moving away from my desk too quickly.

Roadkill Stew

Tina: Hey! Something wrong with my peace offering? Aunt Gertrude: I wouldn’t eat that if I were you. Jack: Wasn’t planning on it. Jill: Why not? Aunt Gertrude: She’s been driving up and down the highways a lot lately. Jill: Oh. I’m not hungry. Previously in Jack and Jill: Say Cheese The theme for this week’s Jack and Jill is “Roadkill stew” as suggested by The Walking Man Want to see what I can do with a word or phrase? […]

The Parting

PHOTO PROMPT Copyright-Lura Helms. There came a parting of the ways. The Keeper of the Flame and The Severance Hand, long time friends in the battle for righteousness, disagreed on the likely outcome to the choice of right and not-right. Keeper insisted on right. Severance Hand insisted on might. Each took their choice and slunk into the future alone. Happily Nobody came to the parting of the ways and took the not-right path without hesitation. Fool that he pretends to […]

13 Characters from Final Fantasy VII

It’s been quite a while since I have gotten sucked into an RPG (Roll Playing Game – video game type). The Girl unearthed an oldy but goody a couple of weeks ago and now my time is getting devoured by it. 1. Cloud – the hero. Lots of twisted backstory on this guy.

Suzie’s House 363 : The Best Dad Around

His mother hadn’t abandoned him. She’d merely been murdered. Gene pulled his guitar onto his lap and strummed a few notes while he considered all the mixed up feelings he had about family and friends now that he knew the truth. Tracy would probably say something like how this would make a good song. Maybe she was right. Maybe he needed to try writing one.

She Who Remembers by Linda Lay Shuler p.33

Once more he lifted the flute to his lips. There was the melody of darkness falling softly, softly; of evening when day is done, stars appear, and families gather on rooftops to sing and tell stories and be happy. In case you were wondering, the rooftops in question are the flat roof of an Anasazi cliff dwelling. MizB of Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesday. Odds and Ends

Seems like there’s always more to do than I can handle. I’ve got a to-do list a mile long, but most of it can wait. What can’t wait any longer is the physical therapist. For quite a while now I’ve been limping around with a torn ligament. Silly me. I thought if I just stayed off it long enough it would mend itself. Over a year later, and I’m still limping. Turns out that my efforts have actually crippled me. […]

Say Cheese

Tina (muttering to herself): Try and keep me out, will you? I’ll get some embarrassing pictures and blackmail you into letting me in! It shouldn’t be hard. It’s not like you belong in the kitchen in the first place. Now say cheese!

Historical Documents

“Mommy, Mommy, come quick! Daddy found a newspaper in the walls.” “A newspaper? Oh, you mean where he’s remodeling?” Mommy followed her son to the room they were expanding. “It must be very old. The realtor said everything in the house dated back to the 1900’s, right down to the wall paper.” When they walked into the room, they found Daddy reading the newspaper with a scowl. “Honey, what does it say?” “It says the Red Sox haven’t won in […]

13 Things Getting Rained On

Here in Montana we tend to get a bit dry. When I lived in Wisconsin I could go a month at a whack without having to water the lawn. Not so in Montana. But for the last week we’ve been more than making up for it. It’s been highs in the 50’s and more rain than not for days. Here are ten things getting wet right now. 1. My garden. Yay! 2. The lawn. Yay again. 3. Lumber I was […]

Suzie’s House 362 : Fine, Just Fine

As Trent drove off, everyone else on the porch went back in the house, but Drew needed a minute or two, so he sat on the porch swing and stared at his tips of his shoes. It felt like someone took his life vest just as he was about to head into the worst rapids on a rafting trip. His vision blurred a bit. He tried to focus, and sudsy white waves appeared to wash over the top of his […]

The Last of the Serialist

With a heavy heart today I announce the end of The Serialists blog hop. We had a good, long run, but I find it is more effort than I have the energy for. We have seen a lot of great serials here since the hop began. From Science Fiction to Horror to my own mainstream romance, we’ve had it all. I have loved every minute of it. I will be keeping the links to your serials live through my Serialists […]

Just in Time by Kathryn Shay p. 3

He’d whipped out his cell phone to call the ambulance when one of them roused. She was the tallest, most muscular and toned. When her eyes opened, they were a startling, pure green. She blinked, like a cat watching a human. MizB of Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesday. Time to Face the Music

I knew when I took on The Serioalists that I would be facing a difficult challenge; how to keep people actively engaged, especially when I’m such a slow reader. But I had hope that I would be able to attract enough writers to make it worth while. Sadly, I find I am already out of energy. I simply can’t come up with the time and enthusiasm necessary to get the ball rolling again. So as much as it pains me, […]
