It is too hot to carve my pumpkins here (San Diego) too much in advance, so I haven’t done it yet. Don’t want them to melt to gross mush.

Love the “punkins”! I never do Jack-O-Lanterns anymore, but I hope to be able to pull it off next year.
For your book selection, I’d recommend A Lion Among Men. I haven’t read it yet, but love the two Gregory Maguire novels I’ve read thus far.
