Apparently the Mayan calendar ends tomorrow (Friday). This is supposed to be the end of the world. Having lived through Y2K, the Harmonic Convergence, and a wide variety of ascensions, I’m not really in the mood to do anything for it. However, it did occur to me that if the world really did end, I’d probably miss a few things. Like these:
1. Christmas lights reflected off new snow as viewed while holding my dh’s hand.
2. Attending a rock concert with a bunch of people who like to dance.
3. Chasing my daughter through the house while she screeches and giggles.
4. The loud rumble of a happy cat being petted.
5. When the bread comes out of the oven fresh and perfect.
6. Reading a good book.
7. Writing a good book.
8. Walking barefoot through cold, wet grass on a hot summer day.
9. Soaking in a warm jacuzzi.
10. Spending all afternoon talking with a good friend.
11. Feeling the wind pull my hair back as I bicycle on a path by the river.
12. Getting to the top of the mountain and looking out over the valley.
13. Finishing a major project, like a quilt or painting the house.
Well, hopefully I’ll get to see a lot more of all that, regardless of how the calendar ends.

Great post, Alice. Getting plenty of snow here right now to reflect those Christmas lights, anywhere from 12 to 20 inches. I wanted a White Christmas, but sheesh…talk about overkill! lol
The end of the world probably will come before I ever see snow again. LOL. (I live in the south). If you ever get tired of it, then just send it my way!
These are all wonderful! #12 particularly resonates with me, having done the same thing myself and felt for a moment like the world was made just for me.
Well, to be pragmatic, I reckon if the world ends, none of us will be missing anything, really.
Heh.
That said, I’m with you on just about all of these. I miss them when I don’t have them, I know.
Happy TT!
indeed a surefire list
I would think getting laid would be on the agenda somewhere…but I guess getting out of painting the house would be just as good.
nice…even a bit of work you would miss….i think we are safe tomorrow though…just saying…its all a ploy to sell the new calendar…smiles.
I’m thinking along the same lines this morning, although your post is a bit happier than mine, I think.
Ah, but it’s only the end of *your* world, puny Earthling!
5, 8, 9, 10 are particularly beautiful reminders to enjoy the daily.
My world ends earlier then yours, lol ! So I can tell you how it was if there is Internet in heaven or hell !
I’d probably spend the time eating and shopping.
Have a great rest of your day!

Even the mythical ending of the world is a good reason to count your blessings. But I’ve already bought my 2013 schedule book, so I’m not holding my breath.
oh…what a creative idea for a list.
What I would miss the most are my family, my friends, and my turtles.
Anyway…it seems that we survive from the prophecy
You are a major sensualist, Alice Audrey.
Off to chase my daughter through the house now.
xoxo
