Welcome Christina!

Christina, a veteran of Avon FanLit, has entered the blogosphere.  She can be found at http://fairiegreen.wordpress.com/.  She’s a little nervous about it right now, but if you remember her from Avon or know her from FanLit Forever, drop by.  Alice

"Awww Mommm" Nag Reminder

Tomorrow is the last day to get something in to the FanLit Forever Holiday Story challenge.  Now I’m off to write like the wind because mine isn’t done yet.   Did someone say “windbag?”  Humph.  Alice .

The FanLit Journey

There are some who consider The Hero’s Journey to be a formula.  At least, I have seen it referred to as such.  Could they be the same people who think Romance is a formula?   Poor, ignorant fools. Really, the hero’s journey is a way that Joseph Campbell worked out for drawing together the common threads in all the world’s greatest stories.  Campbell was a professor in Mythology who picked and gleaned and analyzed until he came up with twelve basic […]

The Hero's Journey and FanLit Forever

Ok, I suspect some of you have been waiting to see if I would blog about it – maybe in the hopes I would make more sense here than on the board.  I’m going to make one last run at it, then let it drop.  Check in here tomorrow for my last explanation. Alice

Avon FanLit

Apparently Avon liked one of my entries after all.  Scalawag! won “The Thrill Ride” award as “Best Action Sequence” in their Bottom 503 Awards. I am honored and thrilled, but…  it wasn’t even my best entry. Oh well. Alice

Challenge 2 Tonight

FanLitters, I will be closing the poll and announcing the rules for Challenge 2 tonight both here and on FanLit Forever.  Get out your pens.  It looks like it’s going to be a Holly Jolly St. Patrick’s Day. Alice .

Congratulations Sukie!

Sukie has stepped forward to take her bow.  She is the one who wrote Something Old, Someone New, our first ever FanLit Forever winner.  She had another entry that also did well in the round. Unless something radical happens, it looks like a story with a Holiday theme – you pick the Holiday – will be our next challenge.  The poll for it closes Wednesday, so we’ll know for sure then.   Personally, I’m thinking Fourth of July. How to Help Make FanLit Forever Stronger.

Although we have enough people behind the scenes keeping the board running, we could still use your help to make FanLit Forever a wonderful place. For instance, you can let people know we exist.  We need more people.  Not just writers, we need people who are there because they love to read and want to see what we can do.  Tell your online friends.  Put a link to FanLit Forever on your blog.  Mention it on other boards.  Tell those […]

My FanLit Vision

I mentioned in a couple of places that I had a vision for FanLit Forever, but I don’t think I ever laid it all out.  If fact, I know I couldn’t have because so much has become more clear for me as we’ve gone along. I want the FanLit Forever site to be first and foremost a community catering to writers.   I think of it as being the cyber equivalent of a really good coffee house; the kind where people […]

Excuses Excuses

I suppose I owe my FanLit readers an apology.  Or maybe I owe it to myself. I was decidedly half-assed about my FanLit entries for the first challenge.  I can lay the blame for this on all kinds of doorsteps.  I was too busy setting up the board, the rules, and the vision of FanLit Forever.  I was busy getting my entry ready for the Golden Heart contest.  I was trying desperately to keep up with a very active critique […]

The Winner Is…. Unknown.

If you are the one who wrote Something Old, Someone New please step forward and take your bows.  You won!  Due to a combination of miss-communication, untried procedures, and stupidity on my part, we no longer have the name of the person who wrote the story.  We can come up with most of the others, but not that one.  Now we know how to do this better, and won’t have that problem for Challenge 2.  And for anyone planning on […]

Technical Difficulties

Hey, it’s our first ever round.  You’ve got to expect a few glitches.  But I will close all the polls today and post the winner of the First Challenge for FanLit Forever if I have to do it all manually. Alice
