13 More Pictures from Mountain Tops

We arrived at the highest point of the mountain after a toe-tingling combination of gondola and ski lift rides.

1. These rustic guy statues were all around in Whistler. Looks better at the very top of the mountain. Notice the gap in the fence? It’s a hiking trail going down one side of the hill.

2. The first thing you notice straight off the lift is this interesting sign. Notice all the tools hanging from the bottom? (You can ‘enbiggen’ the picture to see better) Mostly screw drivers, but I did see a couple of wrenches.

3. Another trail. This one going down a different slope. The lifts are all to the East of Whistler, but the sun should have been to the East, so I’m not entirely sure which direction we are facing here.

4. Further up the way, facing the same direction as the previous picture. There were a lot more of those rock piles around.

5. Headed toward the back side of the mountain, just to the left of the previous picture, and not far from to top of the lift.

6. Concessions stand near the left. I was really glad to be able to buy a bottle of water there, since I was foolish enough to bring only my camera and hat.

7. So many bicycles! You don’t think they peddled up here, do you?

8. Time to go back down.

9. Does this strike anyone else as funny?

10. There’s a hook built into the lift chair just for this.

11. Once we’d had enough of taking pictures, we took the same lift back down. But that meant we had to do the two mile hike back to the gondolas. Yep, definitely time to stop and smell the flowers. Stopping is much more fun when going up hill than when going down, after all.

12. Yep, even in the middle of Summer the place is full of ski bums.

13. Then we took the Peak to Peak gondola. More about that next week.
