Ohgodohgodohgod! Lisa knew Tracy was going to do something crazy to Ben or Gene, but she couldn’t imagine what, and had to stand there helpless, watching what ever it was just like when they were little kids.
For several minutes Lisa and Tracy stood behind the couch watching the TV over Ben and Gene’s heads. Then a commercial came on, and Tracy made her move.
“Don’t!” Lisa stepped forward, hand outstretched uselessly as Tracy skirted the end of the couch.
“Don’t what?” Tracy grinned mischievously.
“What ever it is you’re planning, don’t do it.”
Tracy stopped in front of the guys. She looked from one to the other, then back at Lisa. “So? Made up your mind yet?”
“Tracy,” Lisa growled in warning. How could her cousin possibly expect Lisa to choose between them? She’d been trying to do that ever since Mrs. D. decided to pick on them both in class months ago.
Then it happened. Tracy gave Lisa one long, narrow eyed look, then swooped down on Ben and gave him a kiss right on the lips.
“No!!!!” Lisa could feel her face flame, though it was more from anger than embarrassment. She ran around to grab Tracy by the shoulder and yank her off.
“No?” Tracy gave her another assessing look. “All right then.”
Then it happened again, only with Gene. Tracy swooped in and kissed him right on the lips.
“Would you stop that?!” Lisa yelled at her cousin, but she didn’t bother to try to separate them. Maybe she should have because this time the kiss went on longer. For one thing, it looked like Gene was kissing back where Ben had not. He still simply sat there with a bemused look on his face.
Tracy finally stopped. She looked at Gene with an expression that almost made it all worth it – kind of surprised but horrified. Shocked. Tracy had finally done it. She’d actually shocked herself.
“I can’t believe you did that.” Lisa was so surprised she started giggling.
“Tracy? Lisa? What are you two up to?” Lisa’s mother walked into the living room with a hot pad in her hand. “Oh. When did the two of you arrive?” She gestured toward Ben and Gene.
“We were just leaving,” Gene said, scrambling to his feet.
“Yeah. We’re going.” Ben followed him out.
“I’ll see them out,” Tracy said with a grin.
“Oh no you don’t! I will.”
Lisa needn’t have said anything. The guys let themselves out and practically ran away. Ohgodohgodohgod what a mess. Lisa had no idea what she’d say to them later, but she had to say something to fix this.
“It’s supper time. Come eat,” Mom said as she went back to the kitchen.
“I can’t believe you did that! What were you thinking?”
Tracy shrugged, totally unconcerned. “I’m just staking my claim.”
“On who?”
“Isn’t that obvious? On Gene. The way you acted, I know you care about Ben more, so everything will be fine.”
“You didn’t have to kiss them both,” Lisa grumbled.
“Sure I did. I had to know which one would get more of a reaction from you, and I was right. You think you like Gene because he’s all noble and tortured and the strong silent type, but I bet when you’re with just him you get all uncomfortable.”
She was right, but Lisa wasn’t about to admit it.
“So this will work out perfect. You date Ben and I’ll date Gene.”
“Oh sure, if either one of them will ever talk to us again after this.”
Tracy just smiled, totally unconcerned.

Excellent! Sharp and cryptic!
Mine seems rather tame (get it!) lol!
Haven’t done this for a while but figured I needed the laughs today!
A bit of a King Soloman, that Tracy, at least in terms of cleverness. Wisdom is debatable, of course.
I LOVE Tracy! She’s great! Great job, Alice!
Wow!
Awesome, Alice! I especially loved the ohgodohgodohgod. Now I want to see what the boys think or if they’ll say much of anything at all. LOL
Heh, heh. It’s already written, and it’s the boys next week. I love it when we are in synch.
This made me laugh – remembering clandestine kissing games of my own youth!
Brilliant, Alice Audrey. It really flowed quickly and had me rapt.
xo
Fun read! Love how the boys abandoned ship!
This is great, Alice! I squirmed for Lisa – knowing that her cousin was probably going to embarrass her – and, even though not written in their POV, I felt for the boys. Yep, I could see them hightailing it out of there in record speed. Wonderfully crafted, Lady!!
And you know how I love to pick a line – but this week, they’re all so good. I will reiterate Renee – the Ohgodohgodohgod! is perfect!!
Can’t wait to hear what the boys think next week.
I dunno. I’m no fan of manipulative girls; I want to haul off and slug them.
I don’t think of Tracy as manipulative, although I can see how you’d think so. It’s more that she sees lines of tension and irresistibly moves to resolve them. She doesn’t do it to bring attention or a sense of power to herself – though that is a theme I might want to delve into later. Nor does she manipulate people to get her own way. She really is just making sure Lisa can handle this. If it blew up in her face, she’d laugh it off as a joke. As for Lisa, she doesn’t mean to tease the boys. She simply couldn’t make up her mind because she wasn’t able to resolve her own feelings.
‘Ohgodohgodohgod!’
My favorite line this week. Tracy’s a bit of a provacateur. Hope there are no political protests in her future…!
Great idea! You know Madison is one of those political hot beds. I know just the rally to send her to.
Excellent, Alice!!! I love Tracy, audacious and wise. Can’t wait to hear what the boys have to say.
