How to Grab a Direct Link From a Blog

Mini-lesson time. If you want to be able to link directly to a specific post in a blog, then navigate to the page that has only that post. Different blogs do this in different ways. With the vast majority, all you have to do is click on the title of the post and it will take you to a page with just that post.

It can be a little tricky figuring out where the title is. Try with the first bold line. Beware that some blogs will send you to a completely different site when you do this. If that doesn’t work then try clicking the comments. If that doesn’t work, then look for a button that says “share” for special instructions. One site even required that I send a request by email to get the permalink.

You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see only the post you’re interested in. Most of the time there will be comments and/or a comment form at the bottom. This is fine. Go to the place in your browser that shows the URL of the page you are on. Highlight this, and copy.

If you clicked the comment button to get to the right place, then copy only to the part that says “html.”

Now go to the place where you want to put the link, and paste.

You can paste in various places on the web, in a word processor, spreadsheet, or in email. It’s easy.
