Breaking Bad

It started out as research. Not factual research. Cultural research.

Beautiful Spanish Hussy is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico and features a drug-lord. Knowing that the people who read the book might well have seen the show, I thought it best to check it out. I wanted to be sure that there wasn’t too much overlap.

No worries. I don’t have to change a thing in my book to avoid looking like a copy cat. Beautiful Spanish Hussy takes a radically different point of view and deals with aspects of drug culture that are in no way connected to the TV series.

Actually, I knew that much by the middle of the first season. So, I could have simply quit right there. But noooo. I got hooked.

If you’ve seen the end, DON’T SAY ANYTHING! I’m down to the final season. I’m only watching on the weekends because my husband wants to watch it with me. The Girl started with me, but no longer watches it because it became too tense for her. Last night she drifted in while we were watching and casually said, “So who died this time? No, I don’t mean the small fry. Any main characters?”

I wonder if I could sneak in and watch the ending on my own.
