Lake Bature

We dropped down from that toe-tingling ridge to Lake Batur where we got on a couple of motor boats and rode to Trunyan Village.

I call it a ridge, but in reality it is the lip of an ancient crater. We’re talking about the kind of thing left by a mega explosion like Krakatoa, not an impact crater from an asteroid. On the opposite side stands Kintamani Volcano.

As with most of this trip, we were next to such a huge thing for all day, but because of the clouds of volcanic ash in the air we didn’t see much up it. You’d think with all the spewing going on I’d have caught some good shots of debris rising from a volcano. Not once did I get a chance.

From Trunyah Village (top photo) we crossed to the Bali Aga’s cemetery, then back to our buses on the shore where we started. It was a solid day of touring and probably about three more blog posts. 🙂
