Reviews For Moving In
Seriously Reviewed said "You know? Every so often you read a story that starts a little slow on the first few pages and then.....BAM it just explodes! This was one of them for me."
Kaye's Book Review Page
on which she said The book is "short, sweet, light-hearted and just plain fun."
Vince at Philosophy of Romance said "Alice Audrey’s voice is fresh, feisty, full of surprises and always fun. The author also deals with real people having real problems and she does it in a very insightful way."
Nessa at Chrysalis Stage said "If you like sweet, fast-paced romance with a hot hero and all of the misunderstandings that two people can throw at each other, then you will love this story."
Night Owl Reviews didn't have anything nice to say about it. Hey, you can't win them all.
Brenda Talley of Romance Studio said " I recommend this book to anyone. It was a pleasure to read and I shall look for more of her work in the future. "
By Guta Bauer at Murphy's Library did it twice! Once in English and once in Portuguese. I'm assuming they both say, "Life goes on, choices need to be made and we can never let our past deny us of our future. That’s just some of the things we learn from this story. "
If you did a review of my book, let me know! I'll be glad to link to you, even if you didn't like the book.

Mine is wonky, but in a way that comforts me, now. We had several days like this where the snow piled up in the roads and went no where, just made the wheels spin. It wasn’t so much that we got slammed like the East Coast people and their “monster storms”. It’s that it got really cold and stayed that way a long time. So we ended up with the river nearly freezing over.
\
Kind of pretty, eh? I’ve got more pictures like this on my Welcome page.
Then it got warm and everything thawed. This is what comforts me. Temperatures that fluctuate wildly – that’s just Montana. Temperatures that plummet to the teens and stay there day after day for who knows how long? That’s a little too close to “ice age” for comfort.

While cruising along on our big trip last summer we passed a bunch of tourist traps ranging from Wall Drug to the Spam Museum. I’m not sure what this one was. It wasn’t quite enough to make us leave the highway. Had we not been in a bit of a hurry, we might have.
Would you?
See it? See the bird?

Right there in the middle. Here, a closer look, on the bottom right.

It was fishing like a duck, but it’s got some weird non-duck like feathers out the back of the head thing going on. What kind is that? Any idea?

We have one of those construction projects going locally that never seems to change. According to the sign posted on the edges, there’s suppose to be a major hotel/shopping area going in, but all we ever see there are rocks.

Most likely it was one of those grand ideas that crashed and burned with financial upheaval. That or it’s a weird practical joke, because sometimes the rocks move.
Do you have any projects like that going on around you? Are yours as “pretty”?
Totally random picture:

It’s hunting season around here. The other day my son’s best friend complained bitterly that he will be required to go out into the woods and kill things. He hates it, but he will do his best because that’s what is expected in his family.
My own grandfather was an avid hunter, but by my generation, it had fallen by the wayside. It’s given me a different perspective on things like deer. Yum.
Mostly, though, I wouldn’t even be aware of it anymore but for the camouflage clothing in the department stores.
Do you hunt or know any hunters? Do you think it’s a barbaric practice that should be irradiated, a useful past time, or irrelevant?
Freda hubs a photography meme I thought I might jump into. Her challenge this week was to come up with an orange sky. I thought no problem. I thought I knew just the picture. This one:

Um…. Yeah. No orange. A little pink, maybe, but no orange. So I dug through some of my other sunset pictures looking for orange in the sky. No dice. Again, lots of pink and some purple, but no orange. I had no idea orange could be such a rare sunset or sunrise color.
Ok, so I thought I’d try playing around a little in Photoshop and see if I could bring out the orangeness of the pink. Again, no dice. This was the best I did:

Still no orange.
Would you expect that? Do you have any orange sky pictures? What do you think? Can I pretend I got it right?
Lately I’ve been getting a LOT of s p a m in which people say my web site is broken. Normally I simply delete it off and go on with my life, but a little while back a friend had trouble commenting. Have you had trouble commenting? Are pages not loading, or loading slowly? Is my slip showing? Just wondered.
While visiting my mother in law, I couldn’t help but notice this doll in a toy rocker in the corner of the living room. At a glance, I knew which branch of the family would be responsible for the way the doll was placed. I see so much attitude here. Doesn’t she look like a little modern American princess? You know she’ll have a fit if her nails aren’t just right, and given half a chance she’ll talk you ear off about what a bad hair day she’s having. That’s exactly what you could expect from the branch of the family who lives closest.
So radically different from my branch of the family. If one of us were to pose the doll, she’d… well, um… frankly, she’d probably be naked. I don’t know why but every doll that’s ever been in my house has ended up as naked as the makers would allow. It’s not risque. Generally I find Barbies and such piled in a corner with other toys. They get treated as so much plastic. So why are they naked? Laziness? I don’t know.
If I were to pose her, I’d probably put her chin in her hand and face her so it looks like she’s listening to you, but would rather not. If The Boy got his hands on her, she’d probably be throttling another doll and have a painted on maniacal grin. Left to my mother in law, she would sit primly, facing forward, expressing nothing.
How would you pose her? Would you pose her? Would you be caught dead with a doll in the house? What if no one knew you played with dolls? *eyewiggle*
If you posted a question this week, link to it in the comments, and I’ll come visit.

I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of Mount Rushmore before. Generally the ones available are these noble, inspiring shots taken from fairly close in with deep blue sky in the background. Have you ever seen any like these? This is what you see when you don’t actually drive in to the monument itself, but rather simply skirt around the outside.

Have you ever had to pass something like this on the road? We ended up passing it three times before we were done. It may not have a “wide load” sign, but that truck took up more than his fair share of the road. What’s on the back? Tires. Since he was headed for Butte, I’m guessing they are tires for one of those strip mining tractor things. We’re talking about a vehicle the size of a small house.

As those of you who read my Thursday post know, my family and I stopped off at The SPAM Museum during our vacation a few weeks ago. It is quite the wild and crazy place. The entire way through, we were told there were a couple of flavors of SPAM that could only be purchased at The SPAM Museum. These specialty/collector’s items were not for the general public, but only special people like us savvy enough to come drifting in from the highway when we saw the billboards.
I purchased the Garlic and Mr. Al selected the Hot and Spicy. Actually, we were served several samples of the Hot and Spicy as we went. Still, even if we hadn’t already decided it was good, Mr. Al would have gotten it. It has his all time favorite seasoning – Tabasco.
The whole time I was getting my SPAM I was thinking about the gimmick of it. I mean really, collector’s SPAM? They were kidding, right? Right? And yet there I was going out of my way to find the stuff. Although I like SPAM, I’m hardly a collector. I suckered in on the elitism of it.
Would you have?
I can’t remember the last time I bought a computer. I’m guessing my desktop is about eight years old. Might only be six or seven, but I’m thinking eight. It’s a Dell running Windows XP. I’ve had the hard drive wiped once, and looked like I’d need to have it done again. We’re talking about geek work here. It would cost me easily over $100 to have it done. If it weren’t for some weird wiring involving the floppy drive (Yes, I said floppy. It has a 3 1/2 inch floppy drive as it’s A drive) I could do it myself.
On the off chance I might find a better solution, I went surfing the internet for new computers. Guess what I found? A miniature desktop. 8″x8″. It as a TERAbye of memory. I haven’t even used up the 30 gigs that came with my old desktop and here we are talking about 1,000 gigs? Hoooboy! It has a dual core processor and comes with Windows Vista. And it costs less than $300, shipping included. Express shipping included.
It’s supposed to come today.
I can’t wait!
How old is your desktop? How often do you replace them? Do you even bother with a desktop, or just have a laptop?

Have you ever bought food simply to get the container it’s in?
Anyone know what to do with this stuff?
Just curious.

I bought three food things while I was in Cabo last summer, and have already finished a couple of them off. Turns out I can only find one in the local stores. Can you guess which?

I am ready for a vacation. How about you?
The weather did improve. The river has mostly melted again. I’ll try to get a shot or two of it later so I can post it tomorrow. The sun came out, but we’ve still had a lot of fog, particularly for around here.
How’s your weather?
